The latest episode of Monday Night Raw kicked off with a huge new storyline, and it did not involve Edge choosing his opponent for WrestleMania. Instead, we saw one of the biggest shockers with Sheamus actually betraying his best friend, Drew McIntyre!

Drew kicked off the show by addressing the fans for the first time after Royal Rumble. He was excitingly interrupted by Edge, coming in hot off the Rumble win!

Many assumed that he was going to challenge Drew for the WWE Championship, but ‘The Rated-R Superstar’ held his ground on a decision.

Sheamus then appeared to stop Edge before he said anything. He insulted the Hall of Famer by reminding him of how Drew McIntyre carried the company for the past few months while he was just recovering from a tricep injury.

Edge warned McIntyre that there’s a very big target on his back and predicted that he would be walking out as Champion, regardless of who he challenges at the main event.

McIntyre was staring down his potential foe when he was blindsided by a huge shock as Sheamus delivered a brogue kick. Just like that, ‘The Celtic Warrior’ betrayed his so-called best friend.

The reason? Sheamus, like every other man on the Raw roster, has his eyes on gold. The belt around McIntyre’s waist has caught his fancy, and Sheamus proved that friendship doesn’t matter when it comes to the title.

Sheamus revealed the reason he betrayed Drew McIntyre

In a short interview backstage following the bizarre moment, Sheamus revealed that his motive for turning on McIntyre was the WWE Championship.

As a former Champion himself, Sheamus obviously feels that his time has come again. If you look at it, ‘The Celtic Warrior’ is the most dangerous opponent McIntyre could possibly face.

This is because he has known Drew for years and knows all the tricks up his sleeve. Sheamus has probably been studying the WWE Champion closely before betraying him.

As for Edge, we may just see him look to Roman Reigns on SmackDown since the Universal Champion is currently unchallenged. After beating Kevin Owens yet again, ‘The Tribal Chief’ may well get a visit from his greatest competitor yet.
