Drew McIntyre is certainly one of the biggest names in WWE today and has come back from a failed initial stint to conquering the wrestling world in the pandemic era. He has faced some of the best Superstars WWE has to offer from Brock Lesnar to Randy Orton. However, one dream match has always eluded him, and that is against The Undertaker himself.

‘The Scottish Psychopath’ faced Taker in his first stint in WWE and on the return two years ago. He suffered a crushing defeat in both those duels. McIntyre, now in the best shape of his life, claims that if he ever squared off with ‘The Deadman’ again, the result would be different.

However, now that The Undertaker has called it on his career, McIntyre realizes he will never get that WrestleMania dream match. Although, he was extremely close to it years ago.

In the recent “Drew McIntyre: The Chosen One” WWE 24 documentary, it was revealed that ‘The Phenom’ was supposed to face Drew McIntyre instead of Shawn Michaels! Vince McMahon had predicted that Drew would be a future champion and wanted a match against Taker to pave his road there.

Drew McIntyre was pushed off the WrestleMania 26 main card

However, the popular fan backing changed the fight to the legendary Career vs Streak match which saw The Undertaker defeat Shawn Michaels, ending the latter’s career. The Scotsman was instead booked to win the Money in the Bank ladder match at Mania, but that plan fell through as well.

Jack Swagger won the briefcase instead, taking away a series of glorious moments from under McIntyre. Needless to say, The Undertaker went on to have one of the best matches of his career. The two put on an emotional display of a dying era and painted a marvel of a story.

Although ‘The Deadman’ never managed to face Drew McIntyre at Mania in the future, he did silence him at Extreme Rules in a tag team match with Roman Reigns. That was the final meeting between the two as Taker announced his retirement at Survivor Series last year.
