The WWE Universe was traeted to some shocking news hours before Monday Night Raw when the promotion confirmed that WWE Champion Drew McIntyre had tested positive for COVID-19.

The news meant that McIntyre would no longer be able to compete until he recovered and had placed himself in self-isolation. This blew a hole in his major storyline with Goldberg, at least for now.

Fans heard from the Champion for the first time since the announcement on Raw itself. McIntyre addressed the WWE Universe from his home and confirmed the news.

He then announced that he was asymptomatic and was lucky not to suffer the worst parts of the virus. After that, he urged fans and viewers to follow safety protocols and not to take the virus and its dangers lightly.

‘The Scottish Psychopath’ left the fans with this message and will spend the next two weeks recovering. All this means that he will likely miss the Royal Rumble that is coming up and possibly the match with Goldberg.

However, if McIntyre does recover quickly, the match against Goldberg will happen, much to the displeasure of fans. Goldberg will have to keep the feud going on Raw with promos till then.

WWE Raw will suffer from the absence of Drew McIntyre

Drew McIntyre is the face of WWE and is a key entity to the ratings of Monday Night Raw. He has been a constant appearance on the show for the past year since his Championship victory and has ruled with an iron fist.

WWE has a lot to plan out for the weeks to come until McIntyre recovers, but all eyes are on whoever wins the Royal Rumble. Whoever does manage to stay in the ring at the end will definitely look to Drew McIntyre.

The WWE Champion has had to fend off Randy Orton, The Miz, Keith Lee, and more. All of these men will come for him soon and he will have to hit the ground running on his return.
