They knocked on his door and out he came. Goldberg entered the Royal Rumble with the intention of winning, and the 54-year-old proved that age is just a number as he took on Drew McIntyre. 

Goldberg made his entrance in the ThunderDome with a different set of shorts, dropping the iconic black and white design for looser shorts. Then came Drew McIntyre in the same old way, equally effective with his Claymore sword.

Things lived up to the hype when McIntyre began hostilities with a Glasgow Kiss headbutt and a quick Spear to Goldberg. Fans thought it was going to be a squash for Drew but ‘The Icon’ returned with a thunderous Spear, sending McIntyre into the barricades. 

The pace of the match increased as Goldberg tried to finish off the Champion just like Brock Lesnar in 2016. However, McIntyre countered with a Claymore Kick and attempted to pin the legend instead. 

Both kicked out of each others’ finishers. Drew kicked out of the Jackhammer in what was a nail-biting moment for WWE fans.

Goldberg attempted to end Drew McIntyre quickly but was blindsided

Goldberg thought the end was near and attempted to send Drew McIntyre to the stands with a finishing Spear, but the Champion was far too ready for the quick attacks. 

He caught Goldberg in line for another devastating Claymore Kick which was more than enough for the WCW legend. McIntyre picked up the pinfall win in an emphatic fashion, much to the pleasure of the virtual fans.

Drew survived one of the biggest challenges of his WWE career. Few Superstars have been able to survive Goldberg in the ring for the first time, but McIntyre showed him why he is champion. 

Acknowledging ‘The Scottish Psychopath’, Goldberg walked up to him and shook his hand. “Passed the test, you deserve it,” said Goldberg to his worthy opponent.

The two shook hands and parted ways like true respectable warriors after a duel. Drew celebrated as ‘The Iconic’ walked away, but a large shadow looms over him.

Now, McIntyre will have to look out for whoever wins the Royal Rumble and pray it isn’t someone from the Raw roster.
