The WWE Universe was shocked following the events on the latest episode of Monday Night Raw. WWE Champion Bobby Lashley turned on the men who helped him reach the top as The Hurt Business imploded in one of the most unexpected turns of events in WWE this year.

‘The All-Mighty’ completely flipped and took out Cedric Alexander and Shelton Benjamin, breaking his association with the two as a faction. Initially recruited by MVP, the two are now enemies of the WWE Champion.

As for MVP himself, he has taken the side of Lashley and supported the decision to break up The Hurt Business. A lot of fans can’t seem to figure out why WWE broke up the most dominant faction in the business right now, and there is nothing good coming out of the split.

However, WWE may have its own reasons for making this bold decision. For one, The Hurt Business was THE only faction on Raw and was the dominant force. The fact is that there was really no competition for MVP and his men, which is why there was no way to go for them.

The Hurt Business had nowhere else to go with Bobby Lashley

Retribution may have been built as the heel faction, but that idea crashed and burned badly. The Hurt Business may have aged like fine wine, but Retribution aged like milk. The absence of a rival faction is what prompted WWE creative to end the group and send Lashley on his solo path.

On that note, The Hurt Business may have just been made and nurtured as a pedestal for Bobby Lashley. Through his association with the group, he did become a lot more dominant in the eyes of fans and MVP was instrumental to his character arch. This may have been exactly like what the Straight Edge Society did for CM Punk.

One of the less reasonable explanations is that WWE wanted Cedric Alexander and Shelton Benjamin out of the scenario for WrestleMania. Bobby Lashley will defend his WWE Championship at the grandest stage, and as per how things are shaping up, it seems as if Drew is being set up for the win.

WWE wants McIntyre to win in front of a live audience. Something he never had. Although it is unlikely, we may just see Lashley drop the title due to the absence of men who once used to be his backup.
