Here’s Why Kevin Owens Refused To Show Up For RAW Tapings

Earlier today, it was revealed that WWE superstar Kevin Owens would not be appearing for RAW tapings. This was due to his concerns about contracting the virus from any of his colleagues.

WWE had recently announced that one of their “developmental talents” had tested positive for the virus. They decided to hold tapings of RAW and SmackDown until all other employees had been tested.

This was just a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of the employees and their families. Superstars like Roman Reigns and Sami Zayn stayed out of the proceedings from the beginning of the lockdown period.

Kevin Owens has joined that list and informed Management about his decision. They did not stop him from leaving as it was a genuine concern.

While all other Superstars are taking similar risks as Owens, you may be wondering why Owens suddenly decided to back out after agreeing to continue in the first place.

Kevin Owens’ concerns run deeper than what is reported

Journalist David Meltzer gave us a clue on what Kevin Owens was facing at home. “Kevin Owens will not be on this coming RAW because he opted not to stay — he lives in the area, but he decided not to come,” says Meltzer.

“They were told that if you don’t want to come you don’t have to come and his wife’s grandfather just passed away from COVID like within the past couple of weeks so the family was concerned obviously with him working with someone who might have COVID in the building. My impression is that he will come back on the 29th so I think he’s just going to miss one week.”

Kevin Owen’s concerns fall deeper than just health. Recently, Owens’ Wife’s Grandfather passed away due to the virus. This unfortunate incident forced Owens to seriously consider his position.

His grieving wife could not afford to have him in the same situation as her grandfather. He then decided to back out for the safety of himself, and of his family.

This revealed information certainly does explain everything. Owens cannot be blamed for stepping out so abruptly.

WWE however, will have a hard time dealing with their issues now. Owens’ absence means that there will be a major dent in Apollo Crews’ storyline of which Owens plays a major role.

Despite this problem, we mustn’t count without the numbers. Owens may return in a week depending on how the situation unfolds. We are yet to hear from WWE about the test results.

In the meantime, we hope that the Superstars and staff of WWE are safe and haven’t contracted anything. As for Kevin Owens, his absence is pretty much justified.
