When it comes to the WWE, a wrestler’s look goes through quite a bit of change over the years. This can be with their physique or their hairstyles. This often concerns their gimmick or the storyline they are working on. So, why has this not affected Roman Reigns’ hairstyle?

Since his debut, Reigns has had his long wavy locks. Even after turning into his Tribal Chief persona, Reigns kept his hair. Is there something behind his hair? Does it have to do anything with his heritage?

With the Tribal Chief persona, we know Reigns is part of the Anoa’i wrestling family. This legendary Samoan family has produced some of the most well-known wrestlers. Some big names include Dwayne’ The Rock’ Johnson, The Usos, Yokozuna, etc. But did you know that Reigns is half-Italian? His father belongs to the Samoan heritage, while his mother, Patricia, was born in Italy.

This mix resulted in Reigns getting the jackpot of good hair. Since his debut, he showcased his long, dark, thick locks. Reigns is known to keep his hair in good health, either open or in a man bun. His hair would be open during matches when he was part of the SHIELD. Similarly, during his babyface run, this would be his default style. However, since he adapted his Tribal Chief persona, his hairstyle changed.

Now, Reigns keeps his hair in a man bun while cutting promos and even during some matches. The video posted to social media shows how diligently Reigns does his hair. His hair and the’ Ula Fala‘ is his signature look. This necklace is made from the pandanus fruit, part of the traditional Samoan culture.

Regarding Reigns’ hair, it is not a fashion or style choice. It symbolizes his culture and his role as the Tribal Chief. In Samoan culture, hair is an essential part of his demeanor. Tribal Chiefs in Samoan culture consider their hair the source of strength and pride. Cutting one’s hair is a mark of disrespect and dishonor. This is why Reigns has never cut his hair in the WWE.

SummerSlam 2023 and the Bloodline storyline

The Undisputed WWE Universal Champion has been on a downward spiral. Betrayed by his right-hand man Jey Uso and with only Solo Sikoa by his side, the Tribal Chief looks like he’s backed up into a corner. After the Usos betrayal, both men thought they could send a message by competing in Money in the Bank 2023 match. However, things did not go as planned when Reigns got pinned by Jey for the first time in three years.

Despite suffering his first loss, Reigns is set to face Jey at SummerSlam in a Tribal Combat match. The match will be a no-count out or disqualification match. The only way to win is via pinfall or submission. There could be interference by Sikoa, but Jey had Jimmy on his side. The Civil War chapter of the Bloodline storyline is one of the most thrilling and triumphant angles in recent WWE history. Even Eric Bischoff said that the Bloodline angle was better than the nWo, considered one of the best.
