Many fans would agree with the fact that the world of WWE is full of glamour. And oftentimes fans feel like a particular star might come off as a bit rude. One such example presented itself in the form of Randy Orton. While his gimmick made him the ‘Legend Killer’ he gained notoriety for his rude and disrespectful behavior, especially to stars much older than him. Recently while talking with Logan Paul on his podcast, Orton reflected on this phase of his career.

Randy Orton reflects on his younger self

Talking with Logan Paul on his podcast IMPAULSIVE, The Viper talked about his behavior during the initial days of his career. Upon being asked whether he felt he was a “d*ck” at some point in his career, the star candidly responded, “Yes, yeah 100%, but that was like excuse me that was like my armor I was an as***le.” However, he is grateful that he grew out of that phase and the credit goes to footage he recently saw.

While talking on the same topic, Orton said that he saw old footage from the initial days of his career. The Viper reflected on his behavior to his seniors and realized that his behavior trickled down to his fans. The 14-time WWE champion now believes that his younger self thought it was a way for him to get respect.

Now, being a veteran in the industry, he is thankful that he was given multiple chances by WWE to evolve. While it might seem a bit controversial when a WWE star oversteps their boundaries, it was a very common backstage scene during the Attitude Era and the Ruthless Aggression Era.

How Randy Orton overcame his anger issues

There have been numerous reports of Randy Orton’s backstage antics during the late 2000s. While he claimed that both Vince McMahon and Triple H made sure that he stayed on a straight path, his salvation came when had to attend anger management classes. Following his second suspension at the company back in 2006, the higher-ups realized that it was time for him to attend some anger management classes, and so he did. In an interview with the WWE magazine back in July 2023, he touched upon the topic of his 60-day unpaid suspension and his anger management classes.

Upon being asked by the interviewer why he had a reputation of being an “a*s” he replied by saying that he had not that person since the classes back in the day. He further said that while in the beginning, he wanted to get done with the four-week course as soon as possible, he later realized that he could have handled the situation in a much better way. Orton concluded by saying that he is glad that he is not the same person anymore and he is glad that he broke the ‘difficult to work with notion’ that many had about him.
