Jim Cornette explains how WWE Rivals ruined a potentially great feud

WWE Rivals is a documentary series that began in 2022 and features some of the most iconic rivalries in the WWE. Some of the episodes featured Shawn Michaels vs. Bret Hart, WWE vs. WCW, The Undertaker vs. Mick Foley, and many more. This year saw the release of season three of the show, with the first episode being Triple H vs. The Rock. While fans were excited about the episode, Jim Cornette felt like it ruined a potential feud between the two icons. On episode 332, titled Jim Cornette Reviews WWE Rivals: The Rock vs. Triple H, the WWE legend broke down the first episode of the season. While discussing the episode, Cornette said, “They talked about the fact that they didn’t like each other per se personally. They didn’t hang out together. That was true.”

This was regarding the real-life heat Johnson and Triple H experienced during their initial feud in the WWE. The two men didn’t like each other, which added to their chemistry in the ring.

Unfortunately, since then, the two have buried the hatchet and have gotten closer with age. The documentary showcases this. Even The Rock

broke his heel character to thank Triple H recently. Moreover, he even called him his brother while promoting the episode. According to Cornette, this has ruined the possibility of having a repeat of the feud with similar intensity. Cornette said, “They still need to have public friction now for what they’re doing now.” Both Johnson and Hunter now enjoy a friendly bond in public. This has ruined the believability of another feud between the two men.

Ending the segment, Cornette added,

“I wish they had kept up the idea that they never were friends and didn’t hang out. Do you agree with what Cornette had to say? Do you think Hunter and The Rock not being friends would have added to their feud? Tell us down below.
