WWE uploaded a long video featuring Cody Rhodes and his epic journey to WrestleMania 40 on YouTube on 3rd February. In the hours-long video, Cody Rhodes is seen battling his way to the top starting from his surprise match against Seth Rollins at WrestleMania 38. Though WWE has dedicated a special video for Cody Rhodes, fans are still unsatisfied as his story remains unfinished.

En route to his journey to face Roman Reigns, Cody Rhodes has won two consecutive Royal Rumbles, making him the fourth superstar to do so in the history of the promotion. Though, he challenged Roman Reigns for the title at WrestleMania, this week’s SmackDown confirms a different story for Rhodes.

After Rollins challenged Rhodes, Dwayne Johnson appeared on SmackDown to electrify the fans. But his face-off only left fans disappointed later, as it came at the cost of Cody Rhodes. While WWE may see The Rock face off against Roman Reigns at WrestleMania, it means Cody Rhodes is out of the title picture as well.

Renowned Wrestling Journalist Dave Meltzer has also confirmed the news as well that Rock vs. Roman Reigns will main event on Night 2. He also revealed that WWE had initially planned for Rhodes to face Reigns at WrestleMania, however, injury to CM Punk and Brock Lesnar’s absence has forced WWE to change plans.

Regardless, none of the actions seem to console fans as they will witness Rhodes finish his story without beating the top guy in the company.

The sentiment was shared by most, especially with a recent video showcasing the segment between The Rock and Roman Reigns at SmackDown gaining a huge dislike tally, with over 350,000 dislikes as of now. “WWE it does not help to show the best of Cody Rhodes if u going to bury him before WM”.

Some fans suggested alternatives by sidelining The Rock vs. Reigns, with one poster saying, “​Postpone Rock v Roman for next year without the title and it’s all good. Cody’s story gotta finish this mania”. While Rhodes himself seems to have taken higher road approach to the debacle, it seems that the entire fanbase is rallying for him to finish his story. ​“Some LET CODY FINISH THE STORY WE DONT WANT TO SEE Rock”. This means that the usually beloved Dwayne Johnson has irked fans beyond the point turning back. “Rock vs Roman can happen any other time, give us Reigns Cody at Mania“.
