On the RAW episode following WrestleMania 39, WWE superstar Matt Riddle made his comeback. While fans were happy about it, they were equally disappointed to see Riddle’s tag team partner, Randy Orton, missing. Since then, fans have been waiting for the 14-time world champion’s return to the ring. Meanwhile, a week ago, Randy Orton’s father, WWE legend Bob Orton, left a disappointing update about his son. Now, the WWE Universe can breathe a sigh of relief as there’s some hopeful news for them pertaining to the 43-year-old.

According to the outlet, Orton is set to make his return this calendar year. “Randy Orton has a return date in the future. It’s not this summer but it is in this calendar year,” the source was quoted as saying by Ringside News.
Orton is currently nursing a back fusion surgery. In mid-May, his father said that the doctors had advised his son to keep his return to the ring on hold. Bob Orton, however, added that the final decision rested with his son. With the latest update on Orton’s return, fans will surely have something to cheer about.
Meanwhile, despite being out of the ring for over a year, Orton was part of an exclusive list that proved his worth in the WWE.
The Legend Killer is still raking in the big numbers
During his prime, The Apex Predator consistently churned out great matches, keeping fans hooked. Armed with a potent RKO, Orton has buried many legends in the game. It is no surprise that he was one of the top earners in the wrestling world. What’s surprising, though, is that Orton continues to be one of the top earners in the WWE. Despite not wrestling for over a year.
His last match in the WWE was on the May 20, 2022, episode of SmackDown. Riddle and Orton lost their tag team belts to The Usos, who unified the titles to become the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Champions. According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Orton is third among the highest-paid wrestlers in WWE, behind Roman Reigns and Brock Lesnar.

The report was met with a positive response from the fans, who were happy with the superstar getting his flowers. Meanwhile, when Orton comes back, he might have to engage in a new feud for the belts, as the Usos have lost it. He would want to keep an eye on the Sami Zayn–Kevin Owens vs. Roman Reigns-Solo Sikoa match at Night of Champions to prepare better for his future endeavors.
