WWE has a history of undervaluing talent when they lack something special. Whether its wrestling prowess or charisma, WWE either sidelines a superstar completely or adds something to them, like a manager. With Peyton Royce and Billie Kay, WWE missed the plot completely. Does Booker T agree with this notion?
Booker T reacts to Peyton Royce and Billie Kay’s release
Despite being a popular act and winning the Women’s Tag Team Championships at WrestleMania 35, WWE no longer required Peyton Royce and Billie Kay’s services. They received their marching orders after WrestleMania 37 as a part of the post PPV budget cuts.

Their release sent shock waves across the industry, especially since Billie Kay’s comedy act achieved success and TV time, while Peyton Royce’s promo on Raw Talk granted her a title match against Asuka. On his Hall of Fame podcast, Booker T reacted to the IIconics’ WWE release.
“For a minute it looked like they were ready to do something with Peyton Royce from a singles perspective. But I don’t know. When they broke the tag team up Peyton Royce didn’t look so special. Billie Kay stood out more than Peyton Royce, and I thought Peyton Royce was the one that was gonna go out and do some of stuff that I talked about.”
Co-host Brad Gilmore commented on how WWE did Peyton an injustice by taking her out of a tag team and putting her in another tag team with Lacey Evans. Booker T added to that, “As soon as the team [IIconics] broke up, she had a couple of singles matches but she just did not look like a superstar.”
What’s next for the IIconics?
Despite their moderately successful career in WWE, Peyton Royce and Billie Kay aren’t the hottest free agents in the industry. As crude as that might sound, both superstars will add some value to the promotion where they eventually end up.

Peyton Royce is a terrific wrestler, and her style is like Serena Deeb, the current NWA Women’s Champion. Royce would make an excellent addition to the NWA women’s roster, and her matches with the likes of Serena Deeb, Thunder Rosa, Taryn Terrell and Kamile would bring the house down.
