Johnson is a big name in the Hollywood industry, which already puts him in the spotlight. On top of that, he also comes from an athletic background. He spent around a decade in the pro wrestling territory as a full-time wrestler, building his name with his in-ring skills and wrestling prowess in WWE.
He has experience in combat sports, which means he knows the territory from the inside out. This will play an enormous factor in incorporating authenticity into his role.
Johnson has a deep understanding of life struggles
Kerr had a life full of struggles, and who else to understand hardships in life than ‘The Great One’ himself? Johnson’s struggle with life is not oblivious to his fans. From a strained relationship with his father to a rocky adolescent, he has seen it all.

Therefore, it won’t be wrong to say that he won’t do justice to putting his complete, raw emotions into depicting the struggles of the two-time UFC Heavyweight Tournament Champion.
Johnson’s level of discipline mimics that of a fighter
Since Kerr is a former MMA athlete, playing his role would be physically demanding. Copying his lifestyle (both in and out of the ring) would not be like a walk in the park. Considering this, Johnson is the best candidate for the role, since he already follows a lifestyle that will be required to portray the 54-year-old MMA star in the upcoming movie.
