3 Reasons Why WWE Could Crown CM Punk the Royal Rumble Victor Instead of Cody Rhodes

Cody Rhodes won the 2023 30-men Royal Rumble match this year. He then challenged Roman Reigns for the WWE Undisputed Universal Championship at WrestleMania 39. Unfortunately, he couldn’t defeat ‘The Tribal Chief’ at the greatest premium live event. Thus, he was unsuccessful in completing his story and fulfilling his American Dream.

That said, the WWE Universe believes that next year in 2024, he will again get the chance to do so next year. Rumors are that he will win the men’s elimination match and go on to challenge Reigns once again. Fans also believe that he may defeat ‘The Head of the Table’ next year at WrestleMania 40. However, with CM Punk back in WWE, his chances of winning the 2024 men’s Rumble match have decreased significantly.

1. It’s CM Punk’s time now

As said earlier, ‘The American Nightmare’ has already won Royal Rumble and main evented WrestleMania this year. Therefore, WWE could give this opportunity to the recently returned superstar next year.

Ever since ‘The Best in the World’ returned at Survivor Series, he has been getting tons of attention from not only the fans but the Stamford-based promotion as well. WWE is already planning to push him to the limelight, and Royal Rumble will be the perfect platform to do so.

2. It will be Punk’s first Royal Rumble victory

There is no doubt that Rhodes is also a fan favorite. His fan following has been increasing with each passing day. But Punk’s return has changed things. A big chunk of the WWE Universe is clamoring to see ‘The Second City Saint’ win the Royal Rumble in 2024.

When Rhodes returned this year in January after recovering from his pectoral injury, the WWE Universe gave him a warm welcome. Not only that, WWE rewarded ‘The American Nightmare’ with huge opportunities. He won the 2023 men’s Royal Rumble elimination match. He even headlined WrestleMania.
