The grandeur of WrestleMania has been mounting since its inception. With numerous unforgettable matches, this event never disappoints the WWE universe and makes their evening special. Speaking of unforgettable nights, the 40th anniversary of WrestleMania will undoubtedly delight fans. In light of the event, they have even begun to speculate about its main attractions. Well, most of the fans think that it will be Cody Rhodes who will face Roman Reigns in the main event of Night 2. Given their previous encounter at the SoFi Stadium at WrestleMania 39 and the battle in which both indulged, it may seem obvious that Cody Rhodes should take on Roman Reigns again.
However, one doubt has been bothering the fans for a really long time, even when we are more than six months away from the event. Actually, they want to know which contest or, as one can say, the storyline could make its way towards the main event of the first night of the event. While there could be an abundance of matches, which can be predicted, here are three of the matches that could possibly main event Night 1 of WrestleMania 40.
It might be a twin showdown at WrestleMania

Considering Jey Uso’s current storyline, his brother Jimmy Uso has been getting on his nerves for quite a while. The first incident we saw at SummerSlam was when Jey was tantalizingly close to winning the WWE Undisputed Universal strap; however, Jimmy turned his back on his brother and helped Roman Reigns retain the gold. The second instance could be noted by a recent incident where Jimmy again cost his brother the tag team titles against The Judgement Day, which indeed left the crowd gobsmacked on Monday Night Raw.
Given both scenarios mentioned above, the WWE might drag a feud and play a long game with the duo so that both could fight at ‘Mania. The twins’ fight feels just as historic and worthy of a major stage. Also, WWE might want to sell this contest as a personal beef, and to get that settled, WrestleMania XL seems like a perfect destination. In fact, a few years ago, the twins stated that the match was their dream match and they wanted it to happen at WrestleMania. Now it will be interesting to see if Triple H makes this a part of the ultimate plan.
Becky Lynch vs Rhea Ripley could be another match
WWE has indeed seen massive growth in the women’s division. Also among numerous memorable WrestleMania matches, some were also produced by various women stars, leaving the fans on the edge of their seats. In fact, one such match that could headline night one of the 40th anniversary might be the clash between Rhea Ripley and Becky Lynch. Surely, both have proved their mettle inside the squared circle since their initial days, and a fight between both wouldn’t leave any chance to entertain the fans.
Even recently, while talking to India Today, Mami made it clear that she wants to fight Becky Lynch at WrestleMania. In fact, the reigning women’s world champion considered Lynch a huge challenge and broke her character to hail The Man. Notably, if this happens to be the main event, this could be only the second time that a women’s match will headline the PLE. Even though the women’s division has given so many memorable matches to the fans, it never got a chance to headline the event after the 35th edition of the PLE.
Given the same, Triple H might think to catapult this contest between Mami and The Man so that it headlines the main event of Night One. Surely, this could be the best possible way to promote the division and can be a watershed moment within the Stamford-based promotion. Also, the matter was raised by Charlotte Flair prior to the previous year’s WrestleMania. She claimed that her battle against Ripley deserved to be in the main event since her foe won the Royal Rumble and gained a guaranteed spot in the headliner.
Dwayne Johnson vs Roman Reigns might be another big match
The third match on the list could possibly be the Anoa’i family war between Dwayne Johnson and Roman Reigns on the first night of the event. The fans have been speculating about this contest since last year. However, it was not able to fit into the equation, leaving the fans watching a match between Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns in the main event. But since the WWE is known to surprise its fans, they could use a two-way method to entertain them. One will be a title shot for Cody Rhodes against The Tribal Chief at Night 2, and before that a match against Dwayne Johnson in the main event of Night 1.

Getting it done will not only give Rhodes what he deserves but could also give the fans what they want, i.e., The Rock in action against Roman Reigns. In fact, Johnson’s statements from the past even hinted at something big for WrestleMania. A few weeks ago, the 51-year-old sat with Pat McAfee and revealed that he was open to facing his cousin in Philadelphia next year.
While some might say that this has made the future almost certain, others believe that due to his Hollywood commitments and upcoming projects, Johnson even might not appear at WrestleMania. Also, with the writers’ strike getting over, the end of the actor’s strike also seems on the horizon, which possibly hints at Johnson’s return to Hollywood.
