We have seen several unbelievable athletes in WWE over the course. A few talents stay for a long time in the company while some leave within a shorter period. However, in 2003, WWE signed an amputee wrestler who shocked the world with his capabilities. He has a victory over Brock Lesnar and recently called himself “the one-legged Forrest Gump.”

Clearly, a victory over The Beast Incarnate made Zach Gowen a popular name in the wrestling business after his WWE stint. Moreover, he is part of a small group that has a win over Lesnar.

Several movie fanatics have seen the movie Forrest Gump and no doubt the film is a wonder. However, we can say a similar thing happened with Zach Gowen back in 2003. The ex-WWE star surprised the wrestling world when he came into the mainstream.

The almost 20-year-old wrestling veteran recently in an interview with Wrestling News Co shared why he is the Forrest Gump. He had a tryout match in TNA and that changed his world, like the “run Forrest run” scene from the movie.

The 40-year-old said, “I don’t really know how anything happens, to be perfectly honest with you. I call myself the one-legged Forrest Gump, because I’m not that bright but I find myself in these insane situations and these circumstances. And when I look back with so much gratitude at the breaks that I got especially early on in the wrestling business.”

Furthermore, Gowen recalled his tryout match in TNA in 2003. It was against Truth Martini who had trained him for the opportunity that would change his life. The match created a huge buzz that a wrestler with one leg “could put on a match.”

He calls this moment becoming viral before viral was a thing. Moreover, he is forever grateful to Vince McMahon for giving him an opportunity to change his life forever. He also shared an interesting story of how WWE signed him.

WWE always tries to garner momentum with its unique storytelling and stories. A similar thing happened when Gowen went viral. He recalled WWE didn’t meet him before signing him up for the wrestling promotion.

The former WWE superstar recalled, “The word traveled fast and basically WWE decided to sign me sight unseen. They had no idea what I looked like, they had no idea what I was capable of what I can do ,and what I couldn’t do.”

He added, “They just knew there was a lot of buzz created from this one match that I had in TNA this tryout match. That was the first domino that let fell that let me to sign with WWE.”

The highlight of his WWE career would be feuding with Vince McMahon and working with the likes of Brock Lesnar, Kurt Angle, Hulk Hogan, and Stephanie McMahon.
