Wrestling Superstars like Hulk Hogan, who served as the essential foundation of the WWE gigantic tower, helped make WWE the greatest promotion in the world. True to his reputation as one of the best wrestlers of the 1980s and 1990s, Hulkster had a significant impact on the organization.

His influence on the industry was so great that when he left WWE, Eric Bischoff swept the industry and, after signing Hulk Hogan to the company, topped WWE for 83 weeks in terms of viewership.

Bischoff recently took a shot at the signing of The Hulkster to WCW in his podcast. He noted that he hired Hogan for two main reasons: first, to stem the company’s financial bleeding as it wasn’t performing well before Hogan. Another issue was that many of the wrestlers were getting older.

In his words, “A lot of these guys have gotten a lot older. You know, the perception of what they were was probably considered to be more valuable than the reality of what they are and that was part of it that was a much smaller part of it. The biggest one was just the financial considerations.”

It’s challenging to carry a whole generation of wrestling on your back, yet the guy in red and yellow managed to do it. Hulk Hogan was on the rise in the 1980s and 1990s, serving as the top guy for the company. Indeed, he had a sense of uniqueness that set him apart.

Eric Bischoff discusses what set Hulk Hogan apart

Hogan stood apart from the rest in any promotion, according to Eric Bischoff, who highlighted this trait. Bischoff stated in the interview with Outside the Ring, “Hulk Hogan, you know, Hulk has a reputation and a narrative because he’s been in the business so long.”

He added, “a lot of people would be critical of his in-ring wrestling ability, but Hulk knew how to manipulate the audience in a way that got the reaction and the emotion from the audience in a way that very few people have, to this day. Hulk was right up there, too.”
