Hulk Hogan is, by far, one of the greatest pro wrestlers the industry has ever witnessed. His charisma, body language, and iconic mic skills have always been over the top, aiding him in succeeding much better than any of his colleagues.

Ever since his debut, Hogan has tasted immense success. Vince McMahon and Hogan were vital reasons behind turning WWE into an international giant from a regional wrestling promotion. However, there were several other factors in play as well.

Hulk Hogan might have been one of the most popular wrestlers, and a crowd drawer. However, there were several other WWE Superstars who were equally capable of pulling in such huge crowds.

WWE Legend Bruno Sammartino was one such person. He was an extremely talented wrestler, who was an efficient crowd drawer and was able to pull in massive crowds of people who cheered for them. However, during WWE Network’s Legends With JBL, Sammartino discussed his comeback to the ring and even spoke about Hulk Hogan.

As per Sammartino, Hogan was not a crowd-puller, and was not a great draw. He revealed why Sammartino had to make his comeback in the 1980s while being aged in his 50s. He said, “I was never a fan of Hogan because I was never impressed with his quality of performance in the ring.

The Italian-American wrestler further revealed that many people thought that he was a great draw, but he did not think so. He also stated how Vince McMahon had the same thoughts and had asked him to work with Hogan in Boston.

Sammartino said, ” A lot of people thought he was a great draw, but in reality, he really wasn’t. That’s why Vince McMahon, Jr. asked me if I’d work Boston. He was the world champion, Hogan, and Boston was way down. ” Bruno Sammartino is a legend himself, and such statements coming from him put a dent in Hogan’s personality.

What was the reason behind Bruno Sammartino making such remarks?

While Hulk Hogan was a huge star in himself, Sammartino was no less. Both these superstars were the recipients of multiple awards and accolades. However, Sammartino was of the notion that the 69-year-old was not a great draw.

He stated in the interview that Hogan was a good worker if he had casual appearances, but building him up in one stagnant place was not the right thing. He said, “He just didn’t have it, so he was okay if you brought him in for a shot here and there. But if you’re going to feed him to the public every month in the same place, he couldn’t do it. He couldn’t do it.”
