A match that both boosted and concluded his career.
Before their iconic ‘Hell in a Cell’ match, WWE legends The Undertaker and Mick Foley faced each other in a historical ‘Buried Alive’ match. That match gave fans several jaw-dropping moments.
Recently, ‘The Deadman’ and Mick Foley opened up about their brutal match that happened 26 years ago. They also talked about the segments of the match that left a mark on their minds.

Along with that, The Undertaker recalled a particular moment after the match that both he and the WWE Universe still remember.
The Undertaker and his iconic purple glove moment
On the latest episode of ‘A&E’s WWE Rivals’, WWE Legends Mick Foley and The Undertaker rewind their memory tape and took WWE fans to the time when they fought the first-ever ‘Buried Alive’ match.
During the show, a segment came when the WWE Hall of Famer talked about the pop he received after he raised his hand from the grave.
The Undertaker said that the crowd’s reaction shook him. He even mentioned that it was one of the moments that people didn’t expect, but it gave them hope that he would crawl out of the grave.
Recalling that moment, The Undertaker said, “When that purple glove came out of that dirt, man, it was another one of those moments that people did not expect but gave them such hope. It’s those kind of stories that let you know that what you do means something.”

During the match, The Undertaker defeated Mankind after delivering a chokeslam to him inside the grave. However, after the match, the ‘Executioner’ and several other heel superstars helped Foley to escape the grave and then bury The Undertaker inside the grave.
The Undertaker took a month-long hiatus after this match and returned as the ‘Lord of Darkness’ in the Survivor Series PLE.

The WWE universe loved the ‘Buried Alive’ match, and it gave a push to the horror/fantasy gimmick of The Undertaker, for which he is still known among the fans.
