John Cena had been the face of WWE for a long time. There were several reasons behind the same. On top of everything, the iconic image that Cena had established in the public eye helped both the promotion and himself. One such element of his stardom was Cena’s wrestling costume. Even though pro wrestlers mostly all have unique costumes, Cena’s stuck with his image as he became the face of the company.
However, fans never knew the real reason why the wrestling star opted for the baggy t-shirt and jean shorts, closing the outfit with a cap on top. In a video five years ago, Cena revealed why he chooses to dress the way he does in WWE.

Five years ago, Cena was featured in a YouTube video by ‘Wired’. The trend with such interviews is celebrities answering the most searched questions about them on the internet. Among several other questions, one was regarding why pro wrestlers are generally without body hair. To answer this, John Cena hilariously talked about a practical problem that would occur if male wrestlers hadn’t ‘manscaped’ well. During the same answer, he also shed light on his iconic pro wrestling outfit.
The Hollywood star said in the interview, “I have found an advantage in 90s fashion and I don’t use oil but I do manscape from the eyebrows down. I wear jean shorts just because people are scared by the very presence of a grown man wearing something from the 90s.”
So, the reason behind Cena not getting tired of pulling off his ’90s’ outfit is that he likes the advantage it gives him. While answering, he also added some humor regarding how people are scared of his outfit.
Despite what his fans think of his outfit, former UFC champion Conor McGregor once cleared that he is not fond of it. In fact, he even called out Cena in every other way he could.

Conor McGregor is known for his brutal public comments and trash talk. In an interview, Cena gave out his opinions on the WWE legend, John Cena. Turns out, neither was he a big fan of his wrestling skills nor was he fond of his costume.
In the interview, The Notorious commented on the ‘Peacemaker’s iconic orange t-shirt by saying, “He’s running around in a luminous orange t-shirt and a headband talking about nobody can see him. We can see him right there; he’s a weak, fat, 40 years old, failed Mr. Olympia motherf**ker.” Despite his legion of fans, it looks like Cena has failed to impress the former UFC Champion.
