When the WWE RAW episode emanated from the State Farm Arena in Atlanta, Georgia, on July 17, the WWE Universe experienced a deja vu. It was Cody Rhodes’ homecoming, albeit one that ended on a sour note for him. Brock Lesnar, who Rhodes had poked in the episode prior, attacked the hometown hero in front of the latter’s mother. Now Rhodes has a plan for him.

During the July 24 episode of the red brand, Rhodes detailed his plan for Lesnar at SummerSlam. The two are scheduled to meet on August 5 at Ford Field. But Cody Rhodes has taken a U-turn on The Beast Incarnate ahead of the PLE.

Weight over 260 pounds and standing 6 ft 3 inches tall, Brock Lesnar possesses an intimidating physique. It was no surprise that Cody Rhodes chose to call him a bear during his promo on Monday Night RAW. Rhodes, who was humiliated in front of his mother, said he wants to embarrass The Beast.

Rhodes said “There’s a whole bunch of people freaking out backstage” thinking that he’s poking the bear. “I’m not poking the bear, I’m slapping the bear across the face and saying come and get it,” he said.

The Royal Rumble 2023 winner said he just doesn’t want to beat the 46-year-old because of the “positive ramifications” on his career and livelihood, and also not because Lesnar “made it personal” by breaking his arm. “I want to beat you at SummerSlam because it’s what you deserve,” he said. Earlier, Rhodes wanted to punish the WWE icon for making things personal and what he would have gained from it personally.

The former WWE Champion’s assault on Rhodes last week wasn’t the first time Lesnar had humiliated a wrestler in front of their family members. He did so 20 years ago, as he pummeled Zach Gowen in the latter’s hometown.

As per reports, WWE is planning the return of Bray Wyatt at SummerSlam. The 3-time World Champion has not been a part of WWE programming for months now. Reports said that Wyatt could come back and disrupt any of the three bouts- Roman Reigns Vs. Jey Uso, Seth Rollins Vs. Finn Balor, and Brock Lesnar Vs. Cody Rhodes.

After a tweet mentioned it, fans voted overwhelmingly in favor of Cody Rhodes as Wyatt’s next opponent. They want to see the 38-year-old start a new rivalry with The Eater of Worlds. But before he can do that, Rhodes has to overcome challenges from Brock Lesnar and win in order to claim a 2-1 victory over him.
