The Beast Incarnate Brock Lesnar was one of the most dominating and fierce superstars on the roster in the Ruthless Aggression era. And his alliance with Paul Heyman made him even more dangerous than anyone else. However, in 2004, Lesnar tried his luck elsewhere, hunting for greener pastures.
While there have been many reasons thrown around for his sudden departure from the company, Heyman revealed the reasons to be financial. The 57-year-old claimed WWE offered Lesnar a 10-year high valued contract, which Lesnar rejected. H
Heyman said, “He saw the cap. Cause they came to him with a 10year deal and more money than they offered anyone in the history of the company, with increases every year for 10 years.”
Paul Heyman detailed how the financial advisors tried convincing him of staying put in WWE, but Lesnar understood the motives behind it and decided against signing the contract.
Heyman further continued, “he understood exactly how much he could make. He saw the cap. He saw the ceiling. And for the farm boy this was money that he never dreamed of in life. Once his faced the reality of ‘ I know exactly how much I am gonna make 10 years from now and I am visioning more. But they are not gonna give me cause this is more than they can give anybody else. So this is all I can make here. Here isn’t enough for me.'”
The then-young Lesnar decided on leaving WWE and becoming a star outside the company. He came back later with a much bigger name and fame and grabbed a contract valued much higher than his previous one with a lighter work schedule.
