The Tribal Chief Roman Reigns is currently on the hottest WWE run of his career. His emergence to the top has been one of the most satisfying moments for his fans. From almost getting booed out of the arenas a few years ago, to being the most over heels in the industry. Reigns has come a long way.

His return in 2020 saw him making an alliance with his former foe Paul Heyman, the ex-advocate of Brock Lesnar. Ever since Reigns aligned himself with Heyman, he has only seen a rise in his career. His alliance with Heyman has fit perfectly and elevated his in-ring presence.

Paul Heyman once recollected his first meeting with The Tribal Chief several years ago. During WWE’s documentary, ‘Rivals’ featuring the legendary rivalry between Brock Lesnar and Roman Reigns, several wrestling stars including Heyman, and Reigns spoke about their rivalry.

However, during this one segment, Heyman would speak on his first meeting with Reigns. He would claim that they first met while Reigns was still a toddler, and the meeting came in 1988, during Reigns’ father Sika’s wrestling match. Heyman would praise Reigns, and heap compliments on him.

What did Paul Heyman say about his first meeting with Roman Reigns?

Roman Reigns hails from the legendary Anoa’i wrestling family. His family has been in the wrestling business for several years now. Growing up, they watched, learned, and understood the professional wrestling business, before taking to the ring themselves.

Speaking on the documentary, Heyman revealed his first encounter with ‘The Tribal Chief’. He claimed, “The first time I ever saw Roman Reigns was in 1988 in Panama city, Florida when his father Sika was wrestling for the continental wrestling federation.”

The 57-year-old continued, “And he brought Roman into the locker room holding his little boy by the hand. And you could just tell the charisma of this three-year-old.” Heyman would understand the charisma Reigns held as a little boy, and how he would later utilize it in his career.

The Head of the Table, and Heyman as the Wiseman have come a long way. From their bitter rivalry a few years ago, to being close allies, they have defined the current era of WWE. Heyman may have exaggerated the fact he saw charisma in a three-year-old Reigns but it would be hard to argue against it as well after all Reigns comes from a great wrestling heritage.
