Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson has been a long-time WWE fan favorite. However, it has been years since fans saw their favorite star performing inside the ring. And the more WWE is proceeding with the ‘Bloodline’ storyline, the more fans are expecting The Rock to return.

However, this was not the case in the 2000s. That was the time when both Dwayne Johnson and Stone Cold Steve Austin left the WWE for a while. And at that time, all fans needed was Austin, not The Rock and the reason behind that might shock you.

Years ago, the ‘Wise Man’ of ‘The Bloodline’ Paul Heyman gave an interview with Michael Landsberg. In the interview, he shared his thoughts on the evolution of the wrestling business and also discussed some ongoing topics.

During that, the host asked Heyman why WWE fans don’t want The Rock back, but they are craving Stone Cold Steve Austin’s in-ring return. He asked if it is because of Johnson’s Hollywood projects that made fans believe that he doesn’t belong to professional wrestling now.

To this, Paul Heyman agreed with Landsberg and said that Johnson’s Hollywood career is the main reason why fans are drifting away from him. He also mentioned that it could make him a great heel as well.

“Yes, I think that’s but then again that also makes a great heel.”, said Paul Heyman.

At the time of the interview, Heyman was also serving the WWE as the lead writer of SmackDown. So, he doesn’t only give the idea about the heel-turn of The Rock but also explained how it could be executed.

Heyman showcased his phenomenal writing skills

Later in the interview, the ‘Wise Man’ of the ‘Bloodline’ explained how WWE could execute Johnson’s heel turn. Heyman said that The Rock could come out and show off his work in the Hollywood industry and turn against fans saying that he doesn’t have time for them now as he is busy filming.

Demonstrating his writing skills, Paul Heyman said, “I mean if The Rock were to come out and start talking about how he’s only here for a couple days because he’s so busy to film his next movie and really doesn’t have a lot of time to share with you fans today because The Rock has to go to his movie.”
