Tribal Chief Roman Reigns has been dominating the SmackDown roaster for quite a long time. Unfortunately, it seems nobody in that locker room has got what it takes to dethrone the Universal Championship from the Head of the Table. The WWE Universe may find out who Roman will face next to this coming Friday. Roman’s special counsel, Paul Heyman, confirmed this when he said that there would be an open challenge this Friday for the SmackDown locker room.

An open challenge to face Roman Reigns for the SmackDown roster

Roman Reigns successfully defended his Universal Championship in a Hell in a Cell match in SmackDown against Rey Mysterio. The Tribal Chief showed no mercy towards the WWE Legend as he demolished Rey inside the steel cage. This victory against Rey Mysterio puts Roman in a position where it seems there are no opponents to face him soon. Hence Paul Heyman took the matter into his own hands.

Paul Heyman appeared on Talking Smack to talk about about the victory Reigns had over Rey. He then stated that The Universal Champion doesn’t have an opponent yet for the future, and the SmackDown locker room can step up and fill the spot as he issued an open challenge.

“Here’s the good news. This coming Friday on SmackDown, Roman Reigns’ dance card is open. So who wants to make a go of it? Who wants to take their chances this Friday in not acknowledging your Tribal Chief Roman Reigns? Because that, ladies and gentlemen, is where the suffering begins,” said Paul Heyman. Who will step up next against Reigns?

Many names are popping up among the WWE universe, and every name can tell a great storyline. Dominik Mysterio can return to avenge what Roman has done to his father. Cesaro, originally the booked opponent for Reigns at Hell in a Cell, could challenge the title if he can end the rivalry with Seth Rollins this Hell in a Cell pay-per-view. Big E also looks like a possible name, but it looks like he is too early in the line.

The two most realistic and possible names include King Shinsuke Nakamura and Roman’s cousin Jimmy Uso. Paul Heyman teased Nakamura to be the next opponent for Reigns some weeks before in a Talking Smack episode. Then there is Jimmy Uso, who recently joined hands with Reigns after many weeks of arguments and cold wars. WWE’s decision to let Jimmy fall in line can be a decoy to set up a match between the cousins soon.
