Paul Heyman Breaks Character in Veiled Dig at Vince McMahon’s Failed Roman Reigns Project: “He’s Not Being Forced to Go Out There and Smile”

Several WWE superstars have gone through their character evolutions during their WWE careers. But very few have made the impact like Roman Reigns. Reigns went through a character evolution following his return at WWE SummerSlam 2020.

He claimed himself to be the Tribal Chief and turned heel in the process. One man that has been associated with Roman Reigns ever since he became the Tribal Chief is Paul Heyman. Heyman is the Special Counsel to the Tribal Chief.

Recently in an interview on The Masked Man Show, Heyman broke character in a veiled dig at Vince McMahon’s failed Roman Reigns project. He praised Roman Reigns and talked about his character evolution into the Tribal Chief.

Heyman said, “The Tribal Chief has lived inside of Roman Reigns for a long time, but it wasn’t the right time to present this persona because he had to go through all of the trials and tribulations in front of the public first.”

Further, Paul Heyman claimed Reigns needed to be the Tribal Chief before he could speak as the Chief. He needed to be more seasoned and grizzled in the past.

“This is authentically who he is. He’s not being forced to go out there and smile and tell you how much he just loves to go and sign autographs at 4 in the afternoon for all the little kids that are coming to the show,” he added. (H/t: Fightful)

Paul Heyman is back again with Roman Reigns

Ever since Brock Lesnar returned to challenge Roman Reigns for the WWE Universal Championship, there have been doubts about Heyman’s loyalty towards Reigns. This is because of Heyman’s past with Brock Lesnar.

And following the WWE Day 1 PPV, it looked like Heyman was once again working with Brock Lesnar. But recently at the 2022 WWE Royal Rumble, Heyman stood by Reigns as the Tribal Chief cost Lesnar his WWE Championship match against Bobby Lashley.

During Lesnar’s match against Lashley, Reigns came out of nowhere and speared Lesnar. But that wasn’t the only surprise. He then walked towards Heyman, who handed Reigns the WWE Championship and Reigns used it to put Brock Lesnar down.

Lashley capitalized on this opportunity and pinned Lesnar for the WWE Championship. It will be interesting to see what Brock Lesnar has to say about this incident.
