The latest edition of SmackDown saw a difference in Roman Reigns’ presentation. Even after being rewarded with the new WWE Undisputed Universal Championship title a few months ago, Roman Reigns was always flanked by Paul Heyman in the ring, holding the other two prestigious Championships.

However, Roman’s appearance at Smoothie King Center was noticeably different. Fans took to social media to concoct their own theories about the missing titles. So, have the titles been retired and sent to the Hall of Fame?

Roman Reigns unified the WWE Championship with the Universal Championship at WrestleMania 38 after defeating Brock Lesnar in a winner take all match. Earlier at Night of Champions, The Tribal Chief completed his 1000th day as the Universal Champion. Since the Head of the Table reached the historic milestone, WWE rolled both titles into one and presented him with a new, gold-themed championship.

However, Paul Heyman was still parading with the other two titles, making Reigns seem like he owned three championships. By the looks of things, it seems as though the other championships have now been retired. Heyman accompanied Reigns to the ring, holding the Tribal Chief’s revered lei. Not that the championships were irrelevant when Reigns was presented with the new one, but it makes more sense that Roman is holding one championship as it was unified.

Nevertheless, Roman Reigns is gearing up to defend his coveted WWE Undisputed Universal title against Jey Uso at SummerSlam. Come hell or high water, Reigns will do everything in his power to hold on to his Championship after SummerSlam.

Meanwhile, the WWE Universe was quick to notice the missing titles and went on social media to speculate on the reason for their absence.

Does the absence of the two belts portend Reigns’ title loss at SummerSlam?

Did WWE just lessen Roman Reigns’ profile by removing the two championships? It could be a foreshadowing. In a segment with Jey Uso, Roman Reigns chastised his cousin for trying to act like the Tribal Chief. However, Uso reminded Reigns that he was the only person to pin the Tribal Chief in three years. He then stated unequivocally that it would happen again at SummerSlam.

At this point, we don’t know if Jey is going to become the next Tribal chief, but it was teased at one point. Regardless, even if Jey Uso dethrones Roman Reigns, the latter will refuse to play second fiddle to his former right-hand man. Here’s how the fans reacted after spotting Paul Heyman without the other two championships.
