WWE has been partnering up with various publishers and developers to stay anchored in the video game market. Take-Two Interactive has been in partnership with the company in this field for a decade and is still going strong. However, their successful collaboration doesn’t necessarily mean that fans will always be satisfied.
Although the leading wrestling promotion has had its share of hits and misses when it comes to the official video games, WWE 2k24 seemed like a fan-favorite in the beginning. The development team continuously offered support and fixed bugs that occurred in the game to help the fanbase enjoy a smooth experience. However, now it seems that the management team has made the wrong call.
The packs that have been released to keep the fans pleased have received praise so far. Recently, the team for the 2024 edition of the popular WWE video game series announced on X that they would release a Pat McAfee pack for the players on 07/31 with a usable football to suit the theme.

The picture used to promote shows Pat McAfee kicking the American football on an already stunned Dominik Mysterio’s head. Irrespective of the sense of humor used and the announcement that might have sounded exciting to some fans, this post was not well received among the internet wrestling community.
We’re now dropping the @PatMcAfeeShow Pack on 7/31 with usable football! #WWE2K24 pic.twitter.com/BwunQa36DU

The fan sentiment in the comments showed a lot of dissatisfaction with the upcoming update. While the clear reason was not stated by anyone, it can be presumed that it was because of the redundancy that occurs when the team repeats the same routine every year.

The reactions from the fanbase suggest that they were hoping to get something different from the Stamford-based company this time around. However, they got visibly upset when the team failed to meet their expectations and did not figure out what the fans wanted. Somebody called out the company for not caring about what the fans want. All they could suggest at the moment was to give up on it as a way to provide impactful feedback and make the management learn through negative reinforcement.
We should give up on this company, they are pathetic and don't care about the fans' opinions

Another fan took a shot at the disappointing reality that the players have been facing ever since WWE 2k24 was released. The commenter claims that the developers didn’t reply to the consumers when they needed them the most, probably to clear away confusion. So, now the announcement for a new pack seems absurd to some.
Yes they are quick to respond too a McAfee post but never answer people’s questions about the game! Unbelievable.

A fan page also took a shot at the company for the same reasons as the rest of the people assembling in the comments. These callouts seem more personal than just a disappointing update. Even though WWE and Take-Two Interactive stopped for a year to work on the production of the next wrestling game and come out even better, that trick may not have worked.
You guys are pathetic https://t.co/OGks0qApto

One of the most exciting parts for a wrestling fan is when the next edition of the video game series drops. The fanbase for WWE video games goes way back to the time when arcades used to be popular. But now, these decisions might affect the fanbase moving further.
Def not gonna buy next year game

A Twitter user went as far as tagging both WWE and Triple H in the comment to claim a refund for the 2024 edition of the video game. This is because they may not be happy with the updates and support provided for the game compared to the listed price.
@WWEgames @TripleH I want a refund
