Pat McAfee's WWE return—Is this the comeback we've all been waiting for?

Everything was perfect about tonight’s WWE Raw except Pat McAfee occupying the commentator’s chair for the last time in WWE before going into an indefinite hiatus. The marquee WWE personality missed almost the entire 2023 and then came back at WWE Royal Rumble 2024. He has been a constant voice behind the commentary team alongside Michael Cole on Monday Night Raw ever since. After sticking up to his duty gracefully for months, it’s time for another shake-off.

However, in leaked footage on Raw, fans received their healing as the 36-year-old casually gave away his return date.

McAfee took to his social media handle to let the world know about his long absence in advance hours before the Raw kicked in. While he didn’t clarify the exact reason behind the sudden drop-off, speculations are rife that he is more invested in making the impending college and professional football sports season a grand success at this point in time. Also, his regular Pat McAfee shows and NFL coverages will occupy the rest of his calendar. However, the only good part is the voice maestro of WWE will be back by January 2025 (on the first Netflix-sponsored Raw edition). In an emotional speech, McAfee paid gratitude to his in-ring crew, production crew, makeup crew, and Michael Cole while mentioning the exact timeline of his absence.

McAfee might leave the desk, but the WWE commentary desk won’t feel the void at all. After all, the veteran ESPN play-by-play broadcaster Joe Tessitore is slated to join the force as the ideal replacement for McAfee. He will start off his work on WWE Raw in September with Corey Graves and Wade Barrett as his associates as depicted in a recent press report. Michael Cole will jump on to the blue brand, although the timeline is yet to be fixed.
