Last week’s edition of SmackDown was an important episode. The reason being, it marked the epic return of John Cena after his last appearance at the Money in the Bank PLE, in London. With him getting a thunderous ovation from the crowd, Cena delivered a solid promo before Jimmy Uso interrupted him. While the two had a great segment, this was not how the original segment was drawn out initially.
According to the new reports, the decision to have Jimmy Uso interrupting Cena was a last-minute tweak that wasn’t the original idea of Triple H.

John Cena made the WWE universe elated after announcing his return to WWE. This majorly happened due to the ongoing writer’s strike in Hollywood, giving Cena plenty of free time. With Cena’s love for WWE evident, he made a blockbuster announcement of featuring on SmackDown for the next two months, which led to Jimmy Uso interrupting him.
Apparently, that wasn’t the original plan. According to WrestlingWorldCC, it was John Cena who was supposed to interrupt Jimmy Uso, thus reversing their positions. Though one doesn’t know how the promo would have been affected, it has still sparked a debate on social media.

The promo still delivered as the leader of the Cenation called out Jimmy for his rash decisions. Jimmy Uso in his rebuttal, claimed he didn’t want Jey Uso to get corrupted like Roman Reigns and John Cena.
Ultimately, the segment ended when Cena claimed that the “wrong Uso quit”, prompting Jimmy to go for a superkick. The veteran, though, saw it coming and delivered an Attitude Adjustment to stand tall. Nonetheless, the change of roles has elicited a huge response on social media with people voicing out their opinions on the matter.
“Would’ve made more sense” Fans debate over a controversial decision
The 16-time champion has been on a roll in 2023. After a smashing box office season, Cena put down Grayson Waller and Jimmy Uso with his finisher. He also was the guest host for Payback, being a special referee, much to the delight of fans.
Now, with this update, some fans were happy with the current order as it’s usually a norm for the heel to interrupt a babyface while giving a promo.
Well Jimmy is a heel make sense

I'm sure the writer who first presented that John Cena would interrupt jey uso got a bit of fine for that ludicrous idea

A few also thought that it made better sense to continue the order as the promo went well and the pop Cena received on his entrance was massive.
Good decision! John Cena had to open the show, what a pop he received! It set the tone for the night 🔥

Well John cena is smarter then everyone else. I liked that better cause jimmy was lost and annoying.

However, some fans defended the original idea and felt that Cena’s entry afterward would have made more sense as a larger pop would have been drawn.
They should’ve done it The reaction would’ve been even more louder
