Olympic Gold Medalist Snubs The Undertaker and Dwayne Johnson, But Picks Banned WWE Legend in His Mt. Rushmore

Kurt Angle surprised everyone a few months after his WWE debut. Nobody thought the Olympic Gold Medalist would adapt to the business so quickly. During the Attitude Era, Angle faced legends like The Undertaker, Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, Stone Cold Steve Austin, Kane, Triple H, Shawn Michaels, etc.

Kurt Angle had a brilliant career not just in WWE, but he also went around other companies. He wrestled with the New Japan Pro Wrestling for a while and Total Non-Stop Action for a long time.

Angle had a splendid match with Brock Lesnar at NJPW. Also, he has many memorable feuds while wrestling in TNA.

Kurt Angle includes Chris Benoit in his Mt. Rushmore of pro wrestling 

Earlier this month on The Kurt Angle Show podcast, the Olympic Gold medalist discussed his matches with AJ Styles. He praised Styles, calling him the second coming of Shawn Michaels. 

Angle also named AJ Styles, and Shawn Michaels on his Mount Rushmore list, which included Chris Benoit and Eddie Guerrero as well. It shocked the wrestling world as he did not include Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, The Undertaker and Stone Cold Steve Austin.

Angle said, “I wouldn’t put AJ up there by himself. I think Shawn Michaels, and Chris Benoit, and Eddie Guerrero deserve to be up there too. He proved that to me every single time he went out there and worked with me. He impressed me every time.”

The name Chris Benoit surprised the fans as he is still a banned wrestler in WWE. Kurt Angle had wrestled Benoit multiple times during his first run with WWE. He called Chris Benoit a smooth worker to wrestle in professional wrestling.

Many Kurt Angle fans who saw the podcast appreciated Kurt Angle for acknowledging Chris Benoit. Some of the WWE superstars who have signed with or left the company do not take Benoit’s name in public as Vince McMahon’s promotion hasn’t acknowledged him since his passing away.

Angle speaks about the common things between AJ Styles and Shawn Michaels

In his podcast, Kurt Angle praised AJ Styles for the amazing career he has had till now. Being wrestled with him at TNA, Angle knows the caliber of The Phenomenal One. Angle claimed he had always called AJ Styles the second coming of Shawn Michaels.

He said, “Shawn and AJ, they have so many identical ways about them, especially their in-ring performances. Their athleticism, the way they were showman, very identical styles.”

We can accept the fact Kurt Angle was saying as he had faced both Styles and Michaels. He also said he would like to face AJ Styles every night, as he is one of the best in-ring technicians to work with.
