During the recent episode of WWE SmackDown, the bout between Reigns and Jey Uso became official. However, the contract signing between the two saw something very personal take place. Roman Reigns’ return in 2020 saw him don The Tribal Chief character, and wear the traditional Ula Fala on his neck. The traditional Samoan necklace is made using seeds of Pandanus tree, and holds great significance in the Samoan culture. It is arguably one of the most highly-prized assets of a Samoan and represents their authority in the clan.

The ‘Ula Fala’ is worn by the high-chief of the family on important occasions. And Reigns wearing it showcases his importance and priority in the tribal hierarchy of the Anoa’i family. However, after Jey Uso pinned him at MITB 2023, fans were left wondering, who the real Tribal Chief is.

This very question rose in Reigns’ head as well. And after being instigated by Jey Uso, Roman Reigns put forward one of his most prized assets on the line. The winner at SummerSlam would become not only the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion but also The Tribal Chief.

Jey Uso challenged Roman Reigns for a tribal combat, after tearing up their contract. A tribal combat comes with the stipulation of the winner being crowned the ‘Tribal Chief’. Bound to accept his challenge, Reigns forwarded his ‘Ula Fala’ as the main-reward alongside his championship.

Jey Uso has always been about family, and after gaining The Tribal Chief status, he plans to abolish the abusive authoritarian rule which Reigns imposed.

Should Jey Uso be the one to dethrone Roman Reigns from his spot?

For almost three years, Reigns positioned himself as The Head of the Table. And, it nearly became an impossible task to remove him from that spot. However, at MITB Jey Uso finally handed him his first pin-fall victory in years and it became a much more believable thing to beat Reigns.

Jey Uso would enter SummerSlam with high momentum. And should WWE capitalize on this, and give main-event Jey Uso the win it will be a fitting conclusion to The Bloodline saga.

The latest episode of WWE SmackDown saw Solo Sikoa take a beating from Jey Uso, with Roman Reigns doing nothing about it. The Big Dog should now expect another backstabbing from Solo Sikoa, which might probably open the door for Jey Uso to take over as The Tribal Chief.
