This SummerSlam is filled with lots of emotions. Starting with Finn Balor seeking retribution from Seth ‘Freakin’ Rollins for an injury that cost him the WWE Universal Champion seven years ago to Jey Uso seeking revenge for the brutal thrashing that led to his brother Jimmy being taken to the hospital.

And as Jey stands on the verge of doing the impossible by defeating The Tribal Chief and becoming The Undisputed WWE Universal Champion. The American Nightmare reminisces about his night at WrestleMania 39 where he could have been the one winning the championship. And everyone was furious at his loss that night, including his mother-in-law.

Brandi Rhodes’ mom was enraged that her son-in-law lost at WrestleMania 39

Everyone at WrestleMania 39 was gunning for Rhodes to win against The Tribal Chief. Rhodes had just made his comeback to WWE after six years. And he mentioned very clearly that he returned to have a WWE Championship around his waist. Something his Hall Of Famer father Dusty Rhodes could never do in his career. It was what the fans thought was apt as Rhodes worked really hard to get to this position.

But fate had other plans for Rhodes that night. Multiple interferences by The Bloodline eventually cost him the match. One family member got extra infuriated at the loss and was shouting angrily right from her seat. We are talking about Cody Rhodes’ mother-in-law.

On his recent appearance on the ‘Busted Open’ podcast, Rhodes talked about how his loss affected his mother-in-law. He said, “My mother-in-law was pretty p****d. I found out later Jill Read, my mother-in-law who I love, Brandi mom, she was kinda, she was making some statements up in the box, some wild statements, she was pretty fired up.”

Brandi Rhodes had also vented her frustrations at her husband being unable to capture the coveted WWE Championship at WrestleMania. Rhodes has since recovered as he looks to plot a return to the title scene and realize his dream.

But sadly tragedy struck again and Rhodes was humiliated right in front of a dear family member again.

Humiliation struck Rhodes again at RAW in front of his dearest family member

Cody Rhodes entered his home turf of Atlanta Georgia on RAW with roaring fans eager to see him. All his family and friends were in attendance for this week’s show. It was a very emotional moment for Rhodes as he choked a bit when introducing his mom in the front row. He even called her the ‘real fighter’ attributing that he is here because of her.

But after all the emotional talk, Rhodes tried calling out Brock Lesnar to accept his challenge for SummerSlam. But to no avail and so he went on to hug his family members in the front row. And just then, Brock’s music played and Rhodes went to search for him behind the gorilla. But Rhodes walked straight into Brock’s trap and he laid carnage on Cody Rhodes right in front of his home crowd. And even more, right in front of his own mother.

You could see the pain in Cody’s mother’s eyes as Brock F-5ed him straight into the concrete floor. That before punishing him with multiple chair shots to the back. And after the brutal thrashing was over, Brock finally said to an emotionally damaged Rhodes, “Challenge accepted, see you at SummerSlam”.
