Mustafa Ali made a name for himself in WWE’s much-loved 205 Live. With his high-flying acrobatics, he wowed fans. He made his debut on June 25, 2016, and fans loved him.

He would go on to debut on RAW in 2017 and moved to SmackDown a year later. Reports indicated that he gained the attention of McMahon, who pushed him as a ‘hot young babyface.’ Despite having a great connection with fans in 205 Live, his main roster run emerged as a forgettable affair due to bad booking.

Furthermore, Ali was abruptly released from the company on September 21, 2023. This was nine days ahead of his match with Dominik Mysterio for the NXT North American Championship. He was part of a group of several wrestlers that were released from the company. This list also included Dolph Ziggler.

Vince McMahon’s poor handling of talent has been a topic of discussion prevalent in the pro wrestling industry

WWE stars have been vocal about the mishandling of employees by Vince McMahon both while in and after leaving the WWE.
