Fatherhood changes several men and Cody Rhodes was no exception. There is hardly not a day ‘The American Nightmare’ doesn’t talk about his daughter Liberty whenever he gets a chance. The 2023 WrestleMania main eventer and Brandi Rhodes began their parenthood journey in 2021. However, Rhodes recently revealed his family didn’t think he would have a child.

After watching the former AEW wrestler being a happy girl dad, it is hard to think there were doubts about Rhodes ever having kids. But he detailed why his father Dusty Rhodes would never think of the same,

Cody Rhodes recalls his family didn’t think of him being a father

Recently, The American Nightmare appeared for an interview on Sports Illustrated to promote his upcoming documentary. However, when the topic of fatherhood came up, he talked about his daughter Liberty.

Cody Rhodes stated he has become a different person after becoming a dad. Surprisingly, he shared about his family never expected he would become a father in the future.

The 38-year-old said, “People ask all the time what if he had been there what would he have said? I guarantee you, if my dad have known I had a baby, because that was not expected for me to have a child. I don’t think anyone in the family thought that I was ever gonna be a dad. That’s all he would have cared about.”

Rhodes added, “I don’t know! I was so focused on doing this. Chasing this crazy dream. Brandi and I were chasing it together when we worked as management at AEW. I don’t think anyone looked at us as if we were ever gonna have the time to do it.”

The 2023 Men’s Royal Rumble winner further added the age factor was something many thought he and Brandi would never have kids. But he believes being older has helped him and Brandi in becoming experienced and properly structured.

Similar to her parents, Liberty has also  began experiencing the wrestling business closely. The last time she was ringside, supporting her father at WrestleMania 39. Surely, Rhodes cannot ask for more right now in his current life. 

Rhodes is grateful for his family

In a recent series of interviews, Cody Rhodes also sat with Chris Van Vliet aka CVV for a chat. As usual, CVV ended the interview by asking him about things he is grateful for right now in his life.

The former two-time Intercontinental Champion was quick to say three names. He took the names of Brandi Rhodes, Liberty, and his pet dog Pharoah. 

Rhodes is currently happy in his personal and professional life. Moreover, as his story outside the ring is having happy moments, fans wish he has the same in the ring by finishing his story.
