WWE Hall of Famer Kurt Angle has previously spoken about his admiration for fellow Hall of Famer Bret Hart. The former Olympian vs the Hitman would have been a delight to watch.
However, the match never took place. When Angle reached prominence in pro wrestling, Bret was at the last leg of his career. So, the match would not have been of equals.

Recently, in a clip from his podcast, Angle discussed which Bret he would have loved to face, and what stipulations he would add. The answer is not shocking at all!
“I’d say 1995 Bret,” he said on The Kurt Angle show. “I watched a film of him and I think he was at his best in 1995 to 1996. I loved watching him work.”
“The gimmick would have been an ‘Iron-man match.’ I think that would have best suited us. No gimmicks just 60 minutes of wrestling, just like Shawn Michaels and he did. I believe that was in 1996. That’s the type of match, I would have wanted with Bret. It would have been exciting. A very successful match.”
In 1996, Bret and Shawn had an Iron Man Match for the WWE Championship at WrestleMania XII. Michaels got the title shot after winning the Royal Rumble that year.
Michaels was ultimately victorious as he pinned The Hitman following the sweet chin music. The match is regarded as one of the best matches in WrestleMania history.

Kurt Angle reveals his favorite style of pro wrestling opponents
Angle’s co-host then asked him about his favorite style of opponents – whether he preferred technician, Brawler, or a showman. Angle revealed he would take on everybody, but he indeed had a favorite style.
“I would take all of them. I love being versatile, and being able to wrestle anybody,” he said. “It was a big challenge, so I enjoyed all of them. But in reality, what I would truly like is the technicians.”

“That’s my favorite style of wrestling. That’s always what I have done, even in amateur wrestling. My technique was sharp. I enjoy doing that type of wrestling.”
Some of the best technicians in pro-wrestling include Eddie Guerrero, Chris Benoit, Kurt Angle, and Bret Hart. Thereby, this confession gives fans another reason why Angle wanted the match with Hart so ardently.
