Shinsuke Nakamura is one of Japan’s finest exports to WWE. He is a former IWGP Heavyweight Champion and has main evented NJPW’s annual flagship January 4th show in the Tokyo Dome a couple of times. One of his Tokyo Dome matches came against none other than the ‘Beast Incarnate’ Brock Lesnar.

During a recent appearance on the Oral Sessions Podcast, Renee Paquette asked Nakamura if he’d like to fight Brock Lesnar in WWE. He instantly said, “If I have the opportunity, of course I want.”

Renee Paquette also asked Shinsuke about his experience of working with Brock Lesnar. The ‘King of Strong Style’ didn’t have a lot of spicy things to say. Nak rubbed it off for being a young wrestler at the time. He said, “I was young. He was young? I don’t know (laughs).”

The former Intercontinental Champion is a man of a very few words. While talking more about Brock, Renee asked Nak about his and the NJPW locker room’s reaction to Brock Lesnar not defending nor returning the IWGP Championship. He didn’t say much, but only one word was enough, “Unprofessional.”

Renee jokingly said Shinsuke should get into a shoot fight with Lesnar. Nakamura said he should do that before joking about his age, subtly putting Lesnar over. He said, “Yeah I should do that, I should (pauses). No, I’m an old man (laughs).”

Brock Lesnar and Shinsuke Nakamura met in the main event of Toukon Shidou Chapter 1 in 2006. Lesnar defended his IWGP Heavyweight Championship against Nakamura in a dominant match at the Tokyo Dome. If this match happens in WWE, it would surely be a crowd puller.

Shinsuke’s immaculate ‘Strong Style’ of wrestling would prove to be a strong competitor against Lesnar’s shoot and amateur wrestling style. Plus, Nakamura would love to level the score with Lesnar. After all, getting beat inside the Tokyo Dome isn’t a great feeling, especially at the hands of a gaijin!
