Paying respect to the opponent is the highest kind of chivalry shown by a true sportsman. Marquee WWE name Dwayne Johnson passed the test of fair playing by pulling off his gentleman’s self at the end of his grudge fight with Hall of Famer Ric Flair in 2002.

The Rock and the Nature Boy, two legendary figures of two different eras, formed a pleasant bond over the years. Despite butting heads with each other only a handful of times, the air of mutual respect between them never faded. The Rock’s thoughtful message for the veteran ahead of his final match last year was a testament to that. Now, Flair had his turn to acknowledge the Brahma Bull for his gracious behavior and gesture with him throughout.

The Rock’s popularity knows no bounds. That said, his skyrocketing fame didn’t only stem from his excellence in a number of crafts or from having an illustrated career, but the purity and generosity of his heart equally contributed to taking him to a new height of stardom each day.

The prized superstar with a herculean physique only smashed his opponents for the sake of the game. But deep down, he held zero grudges against anybody. DJ proved this stance true once again while being tipped against Ric Flair for the very first time on the July 29’s episode of Monday Night Raw, in 2002.

The finishing segment of the action-packed contest saw The Rock tapping into his Rock Bottom finisher to take down Flair for the win. After an overwhelming crowd reception, DJ moved forward to Flair standing in a corner and shook hands with him as a sign of respect. They gave each other a tight hug as well before leaving the ring.

The stirring memory prompted the 74-year-old to share an Instagram post of the match with a sweetest ‘thank you’ note for The Rock.

Posting a small clip of that match between him and DJ, Flair wrote in the caption, ”Love You Rock!!! You Always Treated Me With So Much Respect! WOOOOO!”

The Rock also reciprocated with his love in the comment section. However, they have a very funny equation as well, as depicted in Flair’s hilarious emulation of The Rock during WrestleMania 20.

Ric Flair once derided DJ by emulating his iconic finisher on WWE Raw

The Rock’s iconic finisher, The People’s Elbow, became synonymous with The Great One. The former WWE Champion turned into one of the most electrifying in-ring maneuvers during the late 90s and early 2000s.

The Nature Boy tried to hit The People’s Elbow on its creator at the grandest stage of WrestleMania 20 in 2004. The bizarre moment brought a moment of laughter among fans all across.

Moving ahead, while it sounds too absurd to think of Ric Flair coming out of his retirement ever, we need to see if The Rock reverts back to his old gold days, or not.
