Is AEW a competitor for WWE? Honestly, at this stage, no one knows. Several claim that WWE is too high up in the industry to even consider AEW a competitor. On the other hand, some believe WWE has been worried about AEW’s accelerated progress. Well, Triple H has an answer regarding where WWE and AEW stand in terms of competition.
Triple H believes that AEW and WWE have some form of competition but that only helps in instilling the love for pro-wrestling in the fans. He gave an example of XFL and NFL, claiming that with XFL in the picture, fans will only love football more rather than worrying about which league to support.

“It’s like saying the USFL or XFL is starting up and the NFL is panicking about market share. It’s just going to increase people’s love for football. If you love football that much, you’ll watch all of the football, and it’s great. But the NFL is not sweating that.” H/t The Athletic
He isn’t incorrect. Even when The Rock took over XFL, he did not launch it as a competitor for NFL. In fact, XFL formed a partnership with NFL to advance the game with innovative rules.
While AEW and WWE may not form a partnership, the existence of the two promotions will help in making pro-wrestling a more loved sport among the fans.
