FanDuel partnered with retired NFL star Rob Gronkowski for a live, on-air field goal attempt during the Super Bowl, last year. If Gronkowski made the 25-yard kick, all customers who placed a $5 bet on the game would win a share of $10 million in bonus bets. Despite an epic training montage and hype, leading up to the event, Gronkowski unfortunately missed the kick. It was announced by the PR team of FanDuel group, an online betting company, that NFL Legend Rob Gronkowski would be back for another attempt at this year’s Kick of Destiny.

Talking to media for the occasion, Gronkowski said, “I can’t lie, when I missed the Kick of Destiny during last year’s Super Bowl, it was devastating. I told the team at FanDuel I knew I could do better and needed a shot at redemption this year.” Gronkowski’s comments reflect his story of redemption.

But his opponent, John Cena, did not shy away from taking a sly dig for Gronkowski’s missed opportunity last year. Cena said, “I remember watching Gronk’s kick last year and am so excited to be working with a brand like FanDuel to make this sports moment more exciting for their fans, but do I think he’s going to make it? No chance!
