Anything related to AEW these days is targeted at CM Punk. The man who shocked everyone with his return to the new company has grabbed the limelight for many backstage skirmishes in the company as well. Some claim that it was the result of Punk’s ego, while others claim that the locker room wanted to get rid of Punk.
But there have been no credential reports that claim one or the other. Instead of that, there is a lot of news surrounding Punk’s behavior in the company. This has led to reports from even last year cropping up now, to show Punk’s behavior and the fans are not having it.

In an exclusive report, Cassidy Haynes of BodySlam revealed an incident between William Regal and Punk back in 2022. Regal joined AEW last year after his firing from the NXT head spot. This was a big decision as it led to the formation of the Blackpool Combat Club, which involves Bryan Danielson and Jon Moxley, among others.

Exclusive: Details Regarding Incident Between CM Punk And William Regal Upon Regal’s AEW Debut https://t.co/zZk430WRNu
— Cassidy Haynes of Bodyslam.net (@Casshooole) September 4, 2023
According to this report, Haynes claimed that “Multiple sources have confirmed to me details about an incident that took place between CM Punk and William Regal, which occurred when Regal made his AEW debut. In the altercation between the two, Punk refused to shake Regal’s hand, and would then get in the legend’s face, telling him that he did not like him, he did not trust him, and that Regal was a “stooge for Triple H.”
Being a stooge for Triple H was not only a remark on Regal but also Hunter not treating his employees as friends, but rather as stooges for WWE. While this news carries merit as it comes from a reputable source, many fans are calling it out for an entirely different reason.
Fans question the timing of the story and term it “ridiculous”
In a landscape that is highly hostile or compassionate toward Punk, this news seems to many people as a way to get more clicks. It makes the viewer either comment that this was proof or discredit it as unwanted, either way gaining traction.
Wait what !? It’s been a damn year, why are we bringing stuff like this up
It’s getting ridiculous at this point 😭

This fan claims that this news is only for clicks, given the current wrestling landscape.
So we're just going to have a 1000 stories come out now from the last few years. And we are going to just have to figure out for ourselves which is true, and which is BS for clicks…that's just swell

This fan can’t believe that Punk has beefed with so many people in the AEW backstage.
Ain't NO WAY this man has generated THIS much beef with so many people backstage 😂😂😂
— UnrealEntGaming (@TooRealUnreal) September 4, 2023
Many fans are calling out this report given the context of painting Punk as the bad guy.
Funny how this come out now when the guy has been gone from AEW since last year, what was stopping them?
It's been one story piled upon the other while there hadn't been anything until the 'peg warmer' thing. It's as if Punk is the only way these outlets gain traction.

Seeing The Young Bucks celebrating in the ring as Tony Khan announced Punk’s firing seems to devalue this recent report.
Woah, crazy how all these stories suddenly start popping up right as he gets fired and the AEW evps literally held an in ring "We did it, we did it! We got him fired! Yayyy!" celebration in ring.

This fan thinks that this report just goes to show that a recent report about Punk is unlikely to happen.
And people think Punk heading to WWE is a given.
— Chris Walder (@WalderSports) September 4, 2023
With Punk’s hatred for WWE showing in this report, it seems far-fetched that he would go to WWE. This fan made a similar remark.

Many fans have a hard time believing that this news is worth the attention, as it only serves the purpose of shaping Punk’s image in the media. With the entire landscape being divided between Punk-haters and Punk-supporters, will there be an end to stories about his backstage hatred?
