NBA legend Dennis Rodman was a flamboyant character on and off the court. A former three-time NBA Champion dressed extravagantly and had a rock star attitude. When he crossed over to pro wrestling to team up with Hulk Hogan, it was the perfect pairing.
Rodman appeared for WCW in 1997 and aligned himself with the nWo faction led by Hogan.

He made his in-ring debut at Bash at the Beach in 1997, teaming up with ‘Hollywood’ Hogan to face the team of The Giant and Lex Luger. During his time with the company, he teamed with Hogan one more time for another tag team match.
Rodman and Hogan even appeared on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno” just three days after the Chicago Bulls had won the NBA championship in 1998.
Rodman was at SmackDown with Hulk Hogan and Flair
Despite wrestling his last match over two decades ago, the former NBA star catches up with his old tag team partner now and then. A few years ago Rodman attended WWE SmackDown at the Staples Center. ‘The Worm’ tweeted a picture of him alongside pro wrestling legends, Hulk Hogan and Ric Flair.

The former nWo members enjoyed a spotless record as a tag team winning both of their matches. One of their matches even saw Rodman wrestle against his on-court rival, Karl Malone.
After meeting in two straight NBA Finals for the Chicago Bulls and Utah Jazz, the two basketball players also met in a WCW ring. The tag team match involved Hogan and Rodman against Diamond Dallas Page and Malone, which the nWo members won.

This was not the first time Hulk Hogan, who brought mainstream attention to pro wrestling because of his crossover appeal, had teamed up with a famous name outside wrestling. He also teamed up with Hollywood actor Mr. T for the first WrestleMania main event in 1985.
Over a decade later, he would repeat the celebrity crossover theme with Rodman, with splendid success in WCW. Hogan combined his charisma with Rodman’s fame and led WCW to new heights of fame.

The 90s was a time when pro wrestling was soaring in popularity. WCW, thanks to the nWo, was spearheading this new era. The Rodman-Hogan team was an example of how popular the wrestling industry was in the 90s.
