Atlanta Hawks’ Trae Young Details His WWE SmackDown Appearance at MSG

WWE SmackDown was back at the Madison Square Garden in New York last month. The fans were in for an exciting show with an immense surprise waiting for them. But it was not a pleasant one. During an 8-man tag team match on SmackDown that day, the fans got to see the top villain of the city, Trae Young.

Before the start of the match, Sami Zayn introduced Trae Young to the fans. Trae Young is currently regarded as one of the top stars in the NBA. But the Atlanta Hawks player got a poor reception from the New York crowd. Of course, the New Yorkers have a very good reason for it.

A forgettable experience for Trae Young in the WWE

It was Young who played a crucial part in the playoff series match between the Atlanta Hawks and the Knicks. Trae Young broke a lot of hearts that day by leading the Hawks to a victory over the Knicks.

Speaking to Tres Dean of GQ, Young revealed what his WWE appearance at Madison Square Garden was like.

He said, “[Laughs] They wanted me to come out, show some ‘love’ to the crowd, and just have some fun. It was such a cool idea. I was a fan when I was a kid and my little brother watched it a bit, so he told me I had to do it when they called. The fans weren’t too happy to see me but it was a cool experience.”

However, the night did not end well for Young. During the match, Young tried to attack Rey Mysterio by choking him on the ropes. But he could not escape the referee’s eyes and hence was ejected from ringside.

WWE SmackDown to host the first night of the WWE Draft 2021

Fans will get to witness the first night of the WWE Draft 2021 on the very first episode of WWE SmackDown this month. The Draft is one of the most exciting events, not only for the fans but also for the wrestlers.

Normally, both the Raw and SmackDown rosters get shaken up as superstars are transferred from one brand to the other during the draft. Interestingly, there will be a third brand this time.

NXT will also take part in this year’s draft. This will be a gigantic step for the NXT stars as they will finally make it to the main roster and come up against the top stars of the company.

There already have been a lot of predictions for this year’s draft and some big names could make the switch from their respective brands. It will be very exciting to find out the ones which superstars ultimately make the switch this year.
