At WrestleMania 39, Brood Edge locked horns with Demon Finn Balor in a high-voltage Hell in a Cell clash. While the Rated-R Superstar managed to banish the ‘Demon’, it came at a great cost for the latter. During the match, Balor was busted open by his opponent when Edge threw a ladder, which hit The Judgement Day leader on the head. The match was halted for a while as the 41-year-old received treatment. Later, Balor said he needed 14 stitches.

Meanwhile, Edge broke character after the match to praise his opponent. The 11-time World Champion hailed Balor as one of the very best and one of the toughest wrestlers he has ever come across. Well, Edge might have got that right. If not anything, Balor indeed possesses a tough character in real life.

The Irish wrestler took to Instagram to share a story about the major injury that he sustained ahead of his WrestleMania clash. He revealed he had suffered a grade-2 calf tear just 23 days before his match. The injury normally takes 6-8 weeks to recover, but not for Balor.

“With just 3 weeks & 2 days to Wrestlemania WWE medical team ‘threw the kitchen sink at it’ & with some careful planning, long days of rehab and a lot of swear words we made it back in time with a day or two spare!” Balor wrote.

While thanking his doctors and support staff, the former WWE Universal Champion mentioned how his wife inspired him during his time of recovery.

“My wife said it best. ‘This injury has been the Demon of your career, and you need to over come this Demon to Release YOUR DEMON at Wrestlemania’ @verolaguera,” he further wrote.

Balor not only made it to ‘The Grandest Stage of Them All’, but he also put on a stellar show with his former Judgement Day mate to gift fans a memorable WrestleMania match.
