“My Twin Brother”: John Cena Once Provided a Hilarious Take on One of His Popular Gimmicks

John Cena is a once-in-a-lifetime wrestler. The tales of his heroism have been going on since the 2000s. He competes in the squared circle occasionally nowadays. It gives one a chance to look back at the amazing career he has had. Cena’s first gimmick in the WWE displayed a very different side of him. The chain-wielding and freestyling went a long way to get him over many fans. While The Cenation Leader portrayed The Marine gimmick throughout much of his highs but the previous character too had many admirers. The Doctor of Thuganomics gimmick certainly helped a lot to skyrocket his popularity back in the day. However, he called his previous portrayal as a twin brother of his during a past interaction at The Late Late Show With James Corden.

John Cena comments on popular gimmick

He was reminded of the gimmick through an image of him. Cena replied, “That was a long time ago guys. That is an old photo, actually my twin brother“. The 16-time world champion was at his wittiest best during the show. Although he was joking at the time, even he would agree that it was an important phase of his wrestling career. What appealed to the masses about the legend might not be what him this great.

Cena has since slowly but steadily carved out a successful career in Hollywood. He has appeared in the Fast Franchise and the 2021 movie The Suicide Squad.

His portrayal of the Peacemaker character received a lot of positive responses from the fans. The popularity earned a spin-off series that aired in early 2022.

Cannot stay away from the ring for long

The Doctor Of Thuganomics recently enjoyed a victorious return to the squared circle. He teamed up with Kevin Owens to defeat The Bloodline duo of Roman Reigns and Sami Zayn. A special someone was in attendance to witness the events of the monumental clash unfold. Cena looked his usual best during a rare appearance in the ring after a gap of more than a year.

The speculations are also high of a return to action for The Cenation Leader at WrestleMania 39. Many legends of yesteryears like fellow wrestler-turned-actor Dwayne Johnson and Stone Cold are also expected at the event.

John Cena might have jokingly said that it was not him but his twin brother in the image from yesteryears. He would definitely not undermine the impact that the character had on his career. People who follow Cena from way back would certainly agree.
