Recently, the tragic news of Bray Wyatt‘s untimely demise shook the entire world. The news threw the wrestling community into a dark pit of sadness and despair. Now days after the devastating incident, another piece of horrible news is sure to you feel down in the dumps.

Kurt Angle is not doing so well. For 20+ years, he devoted his body to pro wrestling. Let’s not forget about his service to the mature wrestling sport. All these years of toiling inside the squared circle are eventually bound to cost a wrestler physically, and the same happened with Angle. He gave a sad update on his physical health.

“I really paid the price wrestling as long as I did,” Kurt Angle said

Angle recently appeared on the Chris Van Vliet podcast. During the podcast interview, Vliet asked if he could still wrestle. To this Angle responded with a no, stating that he was not in the shape to wrestle anymore. He gave an update regarding his physical status and told his fans about his previous and upcoming surgeries.

He said, “My quality of life right now isn’t so good. I had my knees replaced about a year ago. I have back surgery about four months ago. I have to have my shoulder replaced. I still have another neck, same surgery coming up. That will be my fourth neck surgery. I really paid the price wrestling as long as I did.”

Angle stated that he feels pain every day. His back and shoulders are his weak spots, which hurt like hell on a daily basis. Fortunately, his knees are doing well and have recovered nicely. Angle states that pain is not the only thing he has to deal with nowadays.

Angle regrets not retiring earlier in his life

During the interview, Angle also stated that due to his bad physical health, he cannot spend some quality time playing with his kids. He detailed that it really hurt him not to be able to run and have fun with his children. He can’t pick them up or do anything with them.

He added he regrets not retiring earlier in his life, which would have allowed his wrestling injuries to heal. Therefore, he could have been able to do all those things with his kids that he so desperately wanted. He feels sad that he can’t be the father he wants to be.

Angle said that his kids are growing up quickly, and he fears he will miss the opportunity to bond with them. Angle has spent more than half of his life in either pro wrestling or mature wrestling. Now he is old and retired but still not able to live the happy and peaceful life he wanted because of his battle wounds.
