As we are seeing in the vast world of entertainment, there are many mergers, from Disney taking Fox to AT&T taking over Warner Bros. However these mergers don’t always spell good times for everyone involved as it also includes a lot of layoffs and budget cuts. Seeing that WWE is also in the process of merging with UFC’s parent company, Endeavor, there are bound to be layoffs.
But WWE fans aren’t new to layoffs. During the pandemic, WWE let go of many wrestlers who were long-time employees of Vince McMahon’s company. While the last layoff bunch earned WWE a lot of hate from the wrestling community, there’s a report that several layoffs are on the horizon now.

The last time that WWE laid off wrestlers, the entire wrestling industry expressed its fury. Not only was the company letting go of major talents but also during the pandemic time, when the economy was already failing. Last time as well the reason for the layoffs was budget cuts, and it looks like this time will be the same.
The report says that the cuts will most likely happen from July 1. While they reported that it will be a minor batch of releases, but also didn’t confirm any names or even speculated about any wrestler who WWE was likely to release. But that didn’t stop fans from doing it, even when they didn’t want to.
Fans speculate about who’s being let go after the talent cuts report comes out
Last time, WWE let go of former world champions like Bray Wyatt and Braun Strowman, so there’s no one impenetrable on the table. Keeping this in mind, fans have started speculating and some names rose up more than others.
Nick Khan clearly mentioned after the deal was confirmed that there will be office cuts primarily.

People are thinking that Bray Wyatt is at the top of the list of superstars to be let go.
My money's on Bray Wyatt and Uncle Howdy being amongst the first cuts.

Last time as well, WWE said that it would be minor cuts, but it turned out to be more than 50 wrestlers in total.
Last time they said "It will be minor cuts, just a few names", it turned into 18 releases in 1 day and 10-12 more a week later.

Anyone who is a midcard person at or over 35 and isn’t considered a draw is probably at risk if its going to be like how UFC made roster cuts when Endeavor bought them

As expected with any merger..but still sad though. Good thing there are plenty of quality options for talent

They do this every year and hire more, some just don’t work and probably will thrive elsewhere

Sad that there’ll be releases.
But where one door closes, another opens. If WWE won’t do anything meaningful with a lot of the people about to be let go, there’s plenty of options for the talent.— “Superstar” Grim Rieper 🕶️💪 (@RiepTide1999) May 25, 2023
Looking at these comments, fans are decidedly angry at WWE for possibly letting go of their favorite wrestlers. But at the same time, fans understand that mergers require layoffs as well.
