Both Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart have made a name for themselves in the action and comedy genres, respectively. While Hart’s exploits have been mostly limited to comedy, the People’s Champ has proved he can be just as good when it’s time to make people laugh. No wonder the duo gets along well! When not starring in a movie together, fans constantly see The Rock and Hart engaging in banters. The former WWE superstar has been very open about his relationship with his Central Intelligence co-star. And if one is in doubt about their bond, an incident from 2019 will help to dispel that thought.

On September 1, Kevin Hart suffered a severe back injury after being involved in a car crash. The vehicle, driven by his friend Jared Black, lost control and fell into a ditch. Fortunately, the actor survived the ordeal. However, the news of the accident shook the Brahma Bull.

Recalling the incident, he said Hart’s situation “could have gone another way”. “When I heard the news my heart stopped, and I lost my breath,” he told Kevin McCarthy during an interview on December 3.

The accident changed Hart’s outlook on life

The Ride Along star spent 10 days at the hospital following the accident. During the aforementioned period, he underwent back surgery. Hart said that the crash forced him to change the way he viewed life.

In the same interview, he revealed being present for the surrounding ones was his new priority. “The level of appreciation for life is extremely higher, because you do kind of take it for granted,” he said while promoting his movie ‘Jumanji: The Next Level’. Johnson, who sat beside Hart during the promotion, hailed his co-actor’s ability to overcome the accident while calling him “one of the good ones”.

Hart also added that his new experience made him make sure that he makes the “matters of being present matter most”. He said he was happy and called it his “new version”.

“20 minutes later we’re giving each other s*it”

It’s hard to imagine Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart having a serious conversation. Not just the fans, the actors themselves find it difficult to drag it beyond 20 minutes.

Johnson said it was a different experience for him to hear Hart talk after he came back from his injury. “To hear him talk like that I was like, ‘you’re the same guy but a different guy now—empowered. With a different kind of spirit.’” However, it barely lasted for 20 minutes, as the actors gave each other “s*it”.

Cut to 2022, the banter between these two stars hasn’t died down.

Earlier this month, the People’s Champ used a morphed video of Kevin Hart to wish him Merry Christmas. He edited the face of one of his daughters from the original video and replaced it with Hart’s face. ‘The Rock’ was seen doing bicep curls with the morphed Hart, using the latter as a dumbbell. He even tagged the Get Hard star. Hart, on his part, had a simple one-word reaction for it: “A**hole,” preceded by a string of emojis.

Whether it’s the back-and-forth jibe or the two trying to be serious, one cannot doubt their natural chemistry. The duo has shared screen space in four films and their fans would be hoping for more.
