During a match against Randy Orton, Mustafa Ali suffered an injury that forced him out of the Elimination Chamber match. Kofi Kingston stole his spot and came out of the match as the biggest babyface in wrestling.

While Kofi challenged Daniel Bryan at WrestleMania for the WWE Championship, Ali was stuck in the pre-show Battle Royal.

With Ali enjoying a career revival with Retribution, he has finally crossed paths with the former WWE Champion. Up till now, few realised the backstory of this rivalry, which has the potential to be great.

On Monday Night Raw, Ali and Kingston finally began this feud, which was two years in the making.

During his match with Kofi’s New Day teammate Xavier Woods, we heard Ali yelling at Kofi Kingston.

“You took everything away from me”, yelled Ali, which is exactly what transpired. One can’t help but feel bad for Ali, irrespective of how incredible of a moment KofiMania was. Who knows, maybe AliMania would have been an even bigger moment?

Mustafa Ali and Xavier Woods clashed on Raw; however, their match served more to further the issues between Kingston and Ali.

Retribution injured the former WWE Champion, forcing him to miss the Royal Rumble. Kingston was a regular attraction in the Rumble match, but we had to make do without him.

Woods brought the fight to the Retribution leader, hitting a beautiful discus clothesline, paying a tribute to the late Brodie Lee. T-Bar pulled Woods off Ali to save his leader but got taken out by Kingston at ringside. Kofi took out Retribution entirely before Woods surprised Ali with a crucifix pin for the win.

With this victory, both sides stand with two wins a piece. This could lead to a big tag team match between the teams, preferably on Raw next week. The issues between Kingston and Ali deserve a PPV match, and one at WrestleMania would bring their story full circle.
