Ronda Rousey and Laila Ali are two of the greatest female combat fighters of all time. Muhammad Ali’s daughter, like her father, had an impressive record of 24-0. Whereas, a former judoka and MMA fighter have a great MMA record which stands at 12-2-0. Indeed, these two have been great at embracing their respective sports. Interestingly, they had previously been involved in heated conversations.

In case you don’t know, Ronda Rousey and Laila Ali were engaged in verbal exchanges when Rousey was at the zenith of her UFC career and was still undefeated.

TMZ Sports questioned Ali about if she considered defeating Rousey at this point. In response, Ali stated unequivocally that Rowdy is too small to beat her up and is around the same size as her 3-year-old kid.

Moreover, when she was speaking with The Daily Beast, The Baddest Women on the Planet did answer in the usual Rowdy manner. She stated, “If you saw my last fight, it had nothing to do with size or strength at all. That’s not how I beat people. So you can’t count having a size and strength advantage as having a real advantage against me.”

“Don’t ever compare Ronda Rousey to my father, ” says Laila Ali

Ronda Rousey was the first woman to sign a contract with Dana White’s UFC, as is well known. Rowdy has encouraged many people to take up athletics and has strengthened the women’s division. Notably, she had a legendary 12-0 run and was unbeaten up to her second-to-last UFC fight.

All of this sparked comparisons between Rousey and Muhammad Ali, the greatest boxer in history, among fight aficionados.

However, Laila Ali urged fans to stop equating Ronda Rousey with her father after Rousey lost her match to Holly Holm. She asserted, “I’ve heard people say, ‘Well, Muhammad Ali lost. He’s still great. First of all, Muhammad Ali never lost like that. He never got in there and was made to look like a rag doll. And when he did lose, it was pretty much after he had been off for three years.”

She added, “He was in his prime, had to take time off, came back, fought the best, then he came back and had rematches against the best, so please don’t ever compare her to my father. [H/T: IB Times]

When Rousey was set to make her WWE debut, Ali had wished the best for her. Therefore, the tension between the two seemed to have subsided. Undoubtedly, the followers of combat sports would have enjoyed seeing them if they had taken part in any sort of match. Given that WWE has a habit of taking outstanding talents from a variety of businesses, it would be great if they face off on the squared circle.
